Diploma in Fabric Manufacturing
FM
Fabric Engineering is one of the basic textile engineering branches with its large application in weaving, knitting and non-woven. The purpose of this department is to develop engineers who, in combination of their knowledge, skills and latest technologies, can face challenge of the market and ensure product quality to meet the demand of the time. As a mother institute of the textile education in Bangladesh, we feel proud to know the success story of the sector in terms of one of the largest RMG exporting country and alongside feel responsible for the stability of this success. Hence we maintain close relation with industries to know what they are going to face and try to mend the gap by updating our courses and thereby our graduates. The result is before you. At present we are offering B. Sc. in Textile engineering and M. Sc. in Textile Engineering degrees. I welcome you to be one of us and on behalf of all the academicians; I wish all the success for your academic life and professional life as well.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Fabric Manufacturing is a fundamental and important branch of Textile Engineering. Fabric is the core raw material of the garments and fashion industry. The objective of Fabric Manufacturing Technology is to produce high-quality woven and knitted fabrics by applying modern machinery, scientific knowledge, and efficient production techniques to meet both local and global textile demands.
DURATION AND ASSESSMENT
The textile and garments sector is the backbone of Bangladesh’s economy. A large portion of national export earnings comes from textile and fabric manufacturing industries. However, the industry faces a shortage of skilled and technically trained professionals.
To build skilled manpower and strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global textile market, Global Touch Institute, under the supervision of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) and the Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, provides practical and industry-oriented education.
The Fabric Manufacturing Technology program is conducted over 4 (four) years, consisting of 8 (eight) semesters.
This is a scholarship-based education system, where:
- Free books are provided to all students
- Meritorious students can study free of cost
Admission starts after the publication of SSC results. Generally, there is one session per year, and admission notices are published by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB). Usually, the admission process starts after May, depending on the SSC result.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Fabric Manufacturing Technology deals with the application of engineering and scientific principles in the production of fabrics. This includes the transformation of yarn into fabric through weaving and knitting processes using modern machinery.
